This is one of our popular ‘feature’ races, or destination races. It is a pursuit race, out to the Fairway Beacon / Cardinal Mark and back. Sailors need to be at the briefing to get factored into the start times, which are allocated based on handicap [Note. subject to discussions at the Sailing Committee]. The slowest boats (Optimists) will be set off first, and the fastest will be set off last, hoping to chase down and pass the slower boats.

If the handicapping was perfect, and all boats sail to their handicap, they would finish at the same time.
